Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Back to Me LLC unique?
I don't just treat your diagnosis, I treat YOU. The whole you.
Some providers are just going to treat your symptom or only look at the pelvic floor... F that!
This is about getting you back to feeling like you!
I hope to inspire you and empower you back to the life you want to live, without limitations from your body.
Take the next step on your journey.
What conditions do you treat?
I treat clients for orthopedic and musculoskeletal complaints,
such as low back pain, hip hip pain, shoulder pain, knee pain and TMJ.
Pelvic floor conditions/complaints: pelvic pain, pain with sex, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, urinary urgency/frequency, urinary hesitancy, interstitial cystitis (also known as painful bladder syndrome), pudendal neuralgia, tailbone pain, abdominal pain, fecal incontinence, hernias, and diastasis recti.
Pregnancy and Postpartum: while orthopedic conditions arise during pregnancy/postpartum there are special considerations. I am trained in working with women during this time period to alleviate sacroiliac joint (SIJ) pain, pubic symphysis pain (lightening crotch), back pain, hip pain, birth preparation, early postpartum rehabilitation and anything else that comes up!
What should I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit will be an initial evaluation. I will listen to your story, ask questions to get a thorough history and discuss your goals. I then will evaluate posture, functional movements, strength, endurance, range of motion, soft tissue deficits and alignment. Then we will discuss my findings in relation to your complaints, collaborate to formulate a plan to get you back to your goals and then give you exercises/tasks to do at home.
**Pelvic floor initial evaluation: if indicated and agreed upon, I may assess your pelvic floor muscles with an internal assessment. Your comfort and modesty will always be respected.
What should I wear to my visit?
Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows for movements such as walking, squats, and bending forward. If you forget movable clothing, we can make it work!
Pelvic floor: if internal pelvic floor treatment is being performed, you will be asked to take your pants and undergarments off. I will provide draping to maintain your modesty.
How long are appointments?
Evaluations: 60-75 minutes
Follow up treatments: 30 or 60 minute sessions
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No! You do not need a referral from your doctor. Colorado is a direct access state. With that said, I am more than happy to coordinate with your doctor if needed and be a part of your healthcare team.
*If you are pregnant, clearance from OBGYN/midwife is required for internal treatment.
Is it safe to be treated during pregnancy?
Yes! Physical therapy is safe and effective throughout pregnancy. It can be incredibly helpful in maintaining strength, mobility and comfort as pregnancy progresses and reducing pelvic pain, back pain, neck pain, or any urinary/bowel symptoms throughout.
It is also helpful in preparing the pelvic floor for birth starting at 34 weeks.
Do you take insurance?
Back to Me LLC provides physical therapy on a "fee at time of service" basis. It is considered out-of-network. Services provided at Back to Me LLC go towards your out-of-network benefits. If requested, I can provide a superbill (invoice) which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Why choose out of network physical therapy vs through insurance?
Great question!
Cost: out of network therapy can be more efficient because it allows for one-on-one sessions which solely focus on you and allow us to look at the whole body which gets us to the root cause sooner. In some high-deductible plans, out-of-network care may be more affordable than seeing in-network providers.
Individualized care: I can treat you for the person you are standing in front of me with individualized care vs insurance dictating based on a diagnosis on paper. Unfortunately, insurance companies dictate types of treatments they will cover for certain conditions and how many visits/much time is spent.
It allows you to CHOOSE who your provider is.
Long term relief: Insurance stops coverage once symptoms are relieved, not based on treating the cause, which can lead to a cycle of repetitive bouts of PT. Out-of-network providers can go beyond symptom relief and get to the root cause of the issue to prevent it from returning in the near future.
As a patient within the insurance based model, you have to have something wrong in order to have physical therapy services covered. This does not allow for maintenance or return to higher level activities. If you are seeking long term health, which includes maintenance, insurance will not cover that.
What type of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, credit card, HSA/FSA and Venmo
Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions!
